Alam Café is tucked away in the beautiful village of Birkat al Mouz. A fairly remote spot. Yet, it’s one of my favourite cafés in all of Oman. For one, it serves great coffee and delicious food. What’s more, the place is comfortable and decorated with a lot of taste. Definitely worth a visit!

Alam Café is one of the cafés that have opened recently in Birkat al Mouz. It belongs to the same owner as for Bait al Sabah Heritage Inn & Café and offers a wide range of drinks, pastries and breakfast food. It has quickly become a favourite among local people who come to meet friends or enjoy a meal with their families. Its relaxed atmosphere also makes it a perfect spot to read, study or just relax.
Alam Café serves coffee prepared by a barista and uses the latest coffee machines with a selection of quality coffee beans.
Dishes include shakshuka or French toast or a variety of sandwiches served with a salad. They also serve fresh pastries.
The café is modern and has wide tables which is practical for big and small groups. The chairs have large colourful cushions.
Alam Café is located in a small commercial area where you will find a variety of restaurants and cafés.
The Arabic word ‘Alam’ means ‘the flag’. It is a bit mysterious why a café would call itself ‘The flag’…
Alam Café serves a variety of savoury and sweet dishes. You can also order pastries or croissants.
Alam Café is run by the same owner as Bait Al Sabah Heritage Inn and Café.

Thanks. If you need more information about accommodation in Muscat or other aspects of travelling in Oman, don’t hesitate to ask.
Hi Christine, thank you so much for the restaurant recommendation. I loved the food, the atmosphere and the place in general. I also talked to Khaled, the supervisor. He says hi. Thank you again. Tomorrow is my last day in Muscat. Any last minute must- see places?
Saliha from Algeria
Hello Saliha, Glad to hear you enjoyed the restaurant. In terms of Muscat, there are many options but some must-sees are Muttrah (the Corniche, Souq and Fort), Al Qurum (Shatti Al Qurum with its beach, the Opera building), and Old Muscat (the Royal Palace and gardens around, the Bait Al Zubair museum). I hope you get to see some of these. Have a great day!
